The Center for Health Affairs’ Volume Statistics program is an initiative that collects hospital volume data from 30 Northeast Ohio hospitals and compiles it in convenient, up-to-date reports on a password protected Web page.
Participating hospitals have access to monthly reports documenting more than 25 inpatient and outpatient indicators such as total facility days and discharges, total physical rehabilitation days and discharges, average length of stay, observation patients and emergency room cases.
Volume Statistics provides Northeast Ohio hospital leaders with current market information that they can’t get anywhere else. In addition to the monthly report, members can create customized trend reports, making it easy to establish their own benchmarking measures. Custom reporting for individual users is also available by request.
Volume Statistics Advisory Committee
The Center for Health Affairs’ Volume Statistics Advisory Committee is composed of representatives from member hospitals who work together to assure that the dataset is as useful and accurate as possible. At least yearly, this committee reviews and refines indicator definitions and considers any additional data points that could benefit the membership.
This committee’s participants represent all member hospitals and come from a variety of roles, from marketing, to decision support to finance. The work of this committee ensures that the data submitted through Volume Statistics is as accurate and consistent as possible.
Volume Statistics data is restricted to members of The Center for Health Affairs. For more information on Volume Statistics or instructions on how to access the data, please contact George Jeney, project manager at 216.255.3666 or via email.
