There are a variety of nursing career options available in the healthcare field. Registered nurses can earn a diploma, associates or Bachelor's degree. Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) are graduates from an accredited school of nursing and provide basic nursing care under the supervision of a physician or a registered nurse.
Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN) hold at least a master’s degree in their area of practice, and may be classified as Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS), Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA), Certified Nurse Midwives (CNM) or Nurse Practitioners (NP).
Nursing assistants have a supportive role in the healthcare industry. Typical nursing assistant tasks include bathing, dressing, or assisting with hygienic needs, serving meals and feeding patients, moving patients to and from treatment rooms or assisting them to walk, and observing patient’s physical, mental and emotional condition and reporting changes to the nurse or medical staff.
